FAQ

  • Yes, pets are welcome, but there are a few important rules. All animals must have up-to-date rabies vaccinations. Bring proof, like vet records or tags, with you to the event. Pets must be on a leash at all times with no exceptions. You are fully responsible for your pet's behavior. The event waiver does not cover incidents involving your pet. Please clean up after them and dispose of any waste properly.

  • If you're staying in a cabin, you’ll need to bring a broom and sweep both the cabin and the porch before you leave. Swiffer mops and pads will be provided, and you're expected to mop your cabin as well. All windows need to be re-latched from both the inside and outside. Trash should be bagged and left by the road. Mattresses must be propped up against the bunks.

If you're in a 10-man cabin with a fireplace and you use it, make sure to clean out the ashes. Bring a shovel and a metal bucket for that. Leave all lights turned on when you depart. Before leaving, you'll do a walk-through with an event coordinator to make sure everything is in order.

  • Ages 0-15: Free

    Ages 16+: $40/person

Day Pass: $20/person (Must leave the park by 10PM)

On Thursday, Troll opens @ 4PM!

  • Yes. If you live 500 miles or more away from the event site, you qualify for discounted admission at $20.

Distance is verified using the shortest route on Google Maps from the address on your driver’s license, so make sure to bring it with you for confirmation.

  • If you'd like to arrive before the official 4:00 PM check-in time, you can pay for VIP Early Admission at the gate. It's an additional $10 for each hour early. For example, if you arrive at 2:00 PM, that's two hours early, so you'll pay $20 for VIP access plus $40 for regular admission, for a total of $60. This does not apply to vendors.

  • Yes. Young children must stay within their parent's line of sight at all times. Parents are fully responsible for their children, even if someone else is watching them. After dark, all children must be either in their camps or with their parents—no exceptions.

  • Speed limit in the group camp is 5mph. This is strictly enforced for the safety of all participants.

  • Yes. Smoking is not allowed inside any structures, including cabins, the feast hall, and pavilions. Please dispose of cigarette butts in proper containers. Any left on the ground have to be cleaned up by volunteers after the event, and that’s gross.

  • The cabins at Montgomery Bell are historic, and so is the wiring. The electrical system can't handle high-demand appliances running at the same time. For example, using a hair dryer and a space heater together will likely blow a fuse. Please plan accordingly and be mindful of what you're plugging in.

  • The cabins are located in the woods, so it's normal to encounter bugs, bats, or small animals. If you find an animal inside your cabin, please notify an event coordinator so a park ranger can safely handle it. Bats in the rafters of porch areas are common and will not be removed.

If you're sensitive to bugs, consider bringing a bug bomb. Use it before moving your items inside, and follow all safety instructions. The most common bugs are wolf spiders, which are not poisonous.

Also, remember—you're in Tennessee. We strongly recommend using tick repellent both on and off the field.

    1. If you arrive when Troll is closed, go ahead and get setup. Come back to Troll once it is opened and bring your vehicle. All vehicles are marked as they enter, so it’s clear who has paid.

  • No. Outside firewood is not allowed in Tennessee state parks due to the risk of invasive pests. You are welcome to gather deadwood from the surrounding forest for your fires. There's plenty available.

Any unused wood at the end of the event must be returned to nature by scattering it back into the woods. Do not stack wood against cabins, as this creates a risk of termites and other pests.

  • Yes, fires are allowed, but only in designated fire pits. You may also use an above-ground fire pit, but be aware that Montgomery Bell fines $100 for each bit of scorched earth, and that fine will be transferred directly to you. To avoid this, move your fire pit around as needed.

Digging new fire pits is not allowed under any circumstances.

  • Yes. Toilet paper, paper towels, and hand soap are provided by the realm. If you notice that supplies are running low or if there’s an issue with a toilet or sink, please report it to Troll. We’ll take care of it as quickly as possible.

  • If you have a specific need to keep something refrigerated or chilled during the event, please speak with an event coordinator. We’ll do our best to accommodate you.

  • Swimming is NOT ALLOWED.

(Park Regulation. Out of our hands.)

  • Balloons are not allowed.

(Park Regulation, out of our hands. Birds eat them and die.)

  • Event coordinators closely monitor weather conditions throughout the event. In the event of severe weather, such as a tornado warning, all participants should go to the feast hall immediately. Further instructions will be given by event coordinators once you arrive.

  • Parking directly next to the feast hall is not allowed unless you are an event coordinator or a Food Vendor.

You may park on the grass if needed, but please be courteous. Do not block roads, walkways, or other vehicles. Some parking spots are marked with reserved signs.

Please do not park in any space that is labeled as reserved.
